The Reverberations of Familial Fracture in Abimbola Dare's The Last Wedding Anniversary
Abstract
This essay examines the reverberations of familial fracture in Abimbola Dare's The Last Wedding Anniversary. It particularly identifies the traumatic implications of childhood familial rupture on the psyche of two sisters, Celine and Rebecca and how it tinctures their adulthood. The essay establishes that history and memory are fundamental in the replay of trauma, and that the act of remembering triggers diverse responses in the traumatized. The essay finds that the trauma of ruptured homes on individuals, sometimes results in paranoid behaviour and commitment issues.References
